Our All-Sufficient God

28 “For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? 29 “Otherwise , when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’  (Luke 14:28-30)

There are times in our lives when we face a task that is far beyond our own abilities, far beyond our perceived limitations, far beyond our natural strength.  For me, this is one of those times.  I can see that the place God has invited me to go, the tasks I am being asked to do, and the strength I will need spiritually, emotionally, physically, etc. is something I just don’t see or feel in this moment.  But when the time comes, when I am asked to do what He is calling me to; than the strength will come through Him; as will the words, the power, the knowledge.  For though I may know myself and my own weaknesses; I know my God and His power.  I know My God and His love.  I know My God and His Character.  He promises me that :  “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Cor 12)

And so I will press on in this call, despite my feelings of inadequacy and weakness.  I will admit my weaknesses and shortcomings, and I will rely totally on God.  He is able…and that is surely enough.  May overflowing praises be given to our All Sufficient God.  In Him we live and move and have our being.  In Him we will soar like Eagles.

  1. Carole, you did an excellent job creating your blog and tying the scripture to it. I feel this way about my home and the possibilty of selling it, packing all the stuff up and finding a new home. Thanks for sharing.
