God’s Winter Landscape

Aah, another beautiful blanket of fresh fallen snow. Just the other day I was looking out this very window and noticing all the cleanup I need to do as Spring is approaching. But now it is all covered up and looks perfect. This reminds me of what Jesus does for us, He covers all our sin, every single itty-bitty sin, not just the big ones, but every single speck.  Now there really is no sin that is itty-bitty, but I was raised in a faith practice that seemed to separate the “biggies” from the “not so bad.” But every sin was put on Jesus when He chose to lay down His life for us,

13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. (Colossians 2:13-14 NASB)

This new fallen snow reminds us of how Jesus covers it all. We can’t get out there and clean up ourselves, we need His cleansing promises and power. He also promises to finish this good work that He has begun in us to the very core of our being.

For I am
confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6 NASB)

So, I encourage you, dear brothers and sisters, to gaze outside at the newly fallen snow, or search for a picture of a winter landscape and marvel at His wondrous love. Gaze into His grace and mercy.

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool. (Isaiah 1:18 NASB)

Because of Jesus, we are God’s Winter Landscape of fresh fallen snow.
