And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart. (Eccl. 4:12 NASB)
A thread is all I feel I am hanging by this morning. But if that thread is God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, then I am hanging by an unbreakable cord and no mere thread. We breeze through life sometimes not realizing how our Heavenly Father has protected us and watched over us. We do not sense often what a whisper we are, a mere breath, a trickle of water in the hot desert sun. Yet our God is faithful and carrying us through things that would drain us to the bottom dregs, were He not the one carrying us.
15 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears are toward their cry for help.
17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears and rescues them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 The afflictions of the righteous are many, but the Lord rescues him from them all. (Psalm 34:15. 17-19 NASB)
God is described as having ears and eyes. He is a rescuer, One who is near us when we are broken hearted. He saves us when we are crushed in spirit. I have had two of the most difficult days of my life, but God has been holding me and speaking to me, instructing me, encouraging me and loving me. O how does anyone get through this life without Him? If they only knew Him as He really is… And this is where we come in as sharers of His character and Truth. He uses us, mere mortals, to reach out to others. Let us point them to the cord that never thins, strays or breaks, like we do, like they do. He truly is our Unbreakable Cord, when we feel that we are only hanging on by a thread.
This brings to mind the verse which says “He knits us together in our mother’s womb”.
