Ephesians 4: 4-6

⁴ There is one body-

1. Ephesians 1:22
   And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church,

    

2. Ephesians 4:15
   but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ,

and one Spirit,

1. Romans 8:14
   For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;

1. Romans 15:13
   Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

⁵ one Lord,  The Lord Jesus Christ is the Lord of all who believe in Him

one faith,     All who believe in Christ as their Savior are under one faith in Him

one baptism,

1. Romans 6:4
   Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life

⁶ one God and Father of all, and through all, and in all”

I look at these verses, and it makes me wonder why it is so hard for us, as believers, to dwell in unity.  We have so much in common.  Our differences, are easily corrected, if we go back to the simpleness of “purity and devotion to Jesus Christ.”  I look at what divides the Church today, and I mourn.  For the petty things that divide us, are as nothing compared to the Glorious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who Unites us.

FatherGod,

help us to lay aside our petty difference, and go back to the source.  Go back to Your Word daily and choose what it says over tradition or doctrinal statement.  Teach us to go back to Jesus, in the Garden of Gethsemane, and die with Him there to our own thought, ideas, and preconceived notions.  Help us to cry out, in that same Garden, “Not my will be done, Lord, but yours.”
