In the deepest abandoned places.

I came across some photos of a place that I found to be absolutely breathtaking.  I was at a site and an article came up that said “The most beautiful abandoned places in the world.”  We wouldn’t normally associate beauty with abandonment, but these photos took my breath away.  I went to a site that allows you to download free pics of things so I found these on there.  Here they are:

Jesus in the AbyssWOW, ARE THEY NOT STUNNING.  THEY TOOK  MY BREATH AWAY.

This sculpture is found in the Mediterranean Sea of San Fruttuoso between Camogli and Portofino on the Italian Riviera.

I could not help but remember the Scripture in Psalm 139

Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in [f]Sheol, behold, You are there.
If I take the wings of the dawn,
If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand will lead me,
And Your right hand will lay hold of me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will [g]overwhelm me,
And the light around me will be night,”
12 Even the darkness is not dark [h]to You,
And the night is as bright as the day.
Darkness and light are alike to You.

O, our precious Lord and King inspired someone to place this there.  It is a reminder of His omnipresence.  He is everywhere present with us.

In our darkest moments, in our highest joys, He is there.  When the tears won’t come, and when they won’t stop, He is there.  When we are full of joy and gladness, when our spirit is tickled to laughter, He sees, He shares that moment with us.  O, the wonder of having such a Savior, such a God, such a friend.

Precious God, King of Heaven, Lord of the Abyss,

Open opportunities for all of us each day to share the good news about your love with as many people as You bring into our lives.  Help us to share You in our kind deeds, our kind words, and our sensitivity to others.  Teach us to practice that seemingly forgotten art of courtesy and honor to our fellow beings.  And as we seek to love others with our deeds, open opportunities to share about You with our words as well.  Help us see those opportunities and take them.  You guided someone to share with us about Your love and grace.  Help us to do the same.. Thank You for being with us everywhere, in every circumstance.  Thank You that we can trust that You will never, ever leave us or forsake us, even in our greatest abyss.

Amen
