I am reading through the Bible in a year. I always have a hard time getting through the Law books. It blows my mind how much had to be done for “every little infringement,” against the Law. It is so tedious to read and I can’t even imagine how tedious it is to carry out. Thank You, Jesus, for fulfilling the Law and setting us free not only from our sin, but from the requirements of the Law.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
But I have asked the Lord to help me see new things as I read through the Law Books this time. One of the precious things I have found is that when there is a sacrifice of two birds offered, the one bird is killed and the other is dipped in its blood and set free(Leviticus 14). I take for granted what Our Precious Savior sacrificed for us to be free. He is like that innocent bird, killed, and his blood is poured out, so the other bird can go free. Jesus committed no sins, I have committed many. Jesus broke no Laws, but I have probably transgressed them all, when you consider the thoughts I have had toward others sometimes. Jesus was the clean and spotless sacrifice, I am the soiled and dirty one. But He volunteered to lay down His life, so I could be cleansed and set free.
Jesus life was not taken from Him, He gave it…freely, willingly, lovingly.
17 For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. 18 No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.”
That just blows my mind. Not only did He lay His life down for us, but He knew He would have to do this, before He even spoke the Words to bring us into existence.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love 5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,”
O how we praise our extraordinary Lord, our Blessed Christ, Our Magnificent Savior. What a love! What a love! What a love! Love others as I have loved you…this is all our Jesus asks of us. Love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and love others as He has loved us. There are other “little birds’ out there that don’t know about the Precious One who sacrificed His life for us, for them, so that we could be free.
Jesus, give each of us, the opportunities, the willingness and the words to “Preach to the Birds,” to tell the world, any and all who have ears to hear, about Your Magnificent, Unending, Ever-cleansing Love. Let us be the Fragrance of Christ wherever we go.
Amen and Amen
