Lord, if this is not Your Will, close the door. And so the door closes and I am found on the outside of a prayer for something I thought I needed and God has said “No.” But in all my years of walking with Him, I have always found Him to be right and good in what He does…even the hard stuff. Perhaps, especially the hard stuff. God’s Word is so true when in tells us
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8
God just doesn’t think like we do. He has the Big Picture firmly in His Mind. Ours is often a journey of learning to let go of our own hopes, dreams and ideas; and trust that the One who made us, has much, much better plans for our lives. Jesus prayed,
“Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.”
And so I will join in Jesus song of submission, “Not My will but Yours be done.”
There’s a word that sums up these truths for me…Nevertheless!
Never the less. Never the easy road, when You, Lord, will get more glory if I walk the road that is hard. Never the comforts of life, if I would just settle there and forget that I have been bought with a price. Never the compromises, when You have called me to a specific purpose. I hear the echoes in My heart, “Seek ye first My Kingdom, Carole, and My righteousness, and all these other things will be added to you as well.” And so I rest, and I wait, and I expect great things from My Holy God who tells me…Never the Less.
