In whose heart are the highways of Zion

How blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
In whose heart are the highways to Zion! (Psalm 84:5)

Anyone out there wandering, feeling lost, confused, saddened?  I am at times, and yet I have a God who is literally ‘my strength.’  My heart breaks for the millions who do not know the Precious Lord and Savior who created them and calls them to come to Him.  I couldn’t help but be struck by the phrase, “In whose heart are the highways to Zion,”   I have always loved the heart of God, He is constantly wooing us, drawing us to Himself.  He is filled unceasingly with saving Grace and Mercy.  But one day, perhaps sooner than we think, that door will be closed, that Highway to Zion will be shut down, and the last person ever to come into the Kingdom of God, will come, and the door will close…forever.

One of the most striking passages of Scripture is in the Story of Noah.  Here, too, was a time when God decided, it was time to start over, to wipe the world clean, and begin anew.  Here, too, a door was shut by the very hand of God.

13 On the very same day Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark, 14 they and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, all sorts of birds. 15 So they went into the ark to Noah, by twos of all flesh in which was the breath of life. 16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the Lord closed it behind him.  (Genesis 7:13-16)

There are many out there still searching for that Highway to Zion, the Road to God.  We know that Christ is the only way that God has ordained to bring mankind to Himself.

First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time. For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.       (1 Timothy 2:1-7)

O Behold the Heart of God, who desires all men to be saved.  Who desires all, to carry in their hearts that Highway to Zion, Jesus Christ.

Precious God, make us ambassadors or Your Kingdom to a world that is winding down. Time is running out for people to come.  Please open the hearts of the many people around each one of us, and give us opportunities to share with them about the God who loves them so much, that He gave His only begotten Son to die in their place.  Jesus is the Highway to Zion, Jesus is the only Mediator between God and Man.  Come to Him this day and begin the Beautiful Journey of walking with God.  Amen and Amen
