My God is in control

IMG_0555All it takes is a moment.  We arose early this morning to go for a drive and try to capture the Beauty of the Sun shining through the Morning Mist.  The Sun was out for but a moment, and then, obscured once again behind the clouds.  But in our desire to capture a picture, we captured something else…time.  Time alone, as a family,  with a commonality of purpose.  images[2] This was not one of the pictures we were able to take this morning, but someone else took this beautiful picture on another Misty Morning.  I love the Mist because it reminds me of just how little we can see ahead of us, in our own lives.  Like the Sun this morning, we are here but for a brief moment, and then we are gone.   This could be discouraging if it were not for one irrefutable Truth…God is in Control.

For though the Lord is exalted,
Yet He regards the lowly,
But the haughty He knows from afar.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me;
You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
And Your right hand will save me.
The Lord will accomplish what concerns me;
Your lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands.

I don’t have to be concerned about my life, for the Lord will accomplish what concerns me.  I don’t have to try to make something of myself, to make my life count, for the Lord will accomplish what concerns me.  I just need to seek Him continually and obey whatever He reveals to be His will for me, moment by moment and day by day.  This is one of the most powerful and freeing things about being a Christian.  I am yielded to a higher purpose than myself, I am part of Christ changing the world, redeeming the world, calling forth all people to believe in the One and Only Son of God.

Psalm 57 Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me,
For my soul takes refuge in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge
Until destruction passes by.
I will cry to God Most High,
To God who accomplishes all things for me.

Not only does God accomplish all that concerns me, but He accomplishes all things for me.  I yield to His leading and He promises to work all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.  He reveals that it is He who is at work within me both to will and do according to His go pleasure.  It is He who began this good work in me and will be faithful to complete it in me.  So pardon my composure, and my refusal to fret and worry, but I serve a Sovereign God who is exactly who He says He is, All powerful, All knowing, Always Good.  The Lord is rich in mercy, compassion and justice.  I can trust Him, I have learned this above all else…I can trust Him

,..and so can you.   Yield your life to the One and Only Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and you will know Peace that passes your ability to understand, Love that cannot be quenched, Mercy without measure, and Grace beyond all our failings, short-falls and sins.

God is in control…and I am not, but that’s okay…Because of Jesus…It really is Okay!
