The Gate which is called Beautiful

Man At The Gate Beautiful

Acts 3

Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the ninth hour, the hour of prayer. And a man who had been lame from his mother’s womb was being carried along, whom they used to set down every day at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, in order to beg alms of those who were entering the temple. When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began asking to receive alms. But Peter, along with John, fixed his gaze on him and said, “Look at us!” And he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, “I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene—walk!” And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened. With a leap he stood upright and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God; 10 and they were taking note of him as being the one who used to sit at the Beautiful Gate of the temple to beg alms, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His Wonderful Face  and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the Light of His Glory and Grace.        H.H. Lemmel

How precious a story is this.  A man who is lame wakes up and expects the same old, same old, but meets with two men who are Followers and Believers in Jesus, and this man’s whole world is changed.  This man was born lame.  He had never taken a single step in his life.  We don’t know how old he was, just that he had never walked before.  So, as was he custom of the day, he made his living begging.  He sat in front of The Beautiful Gate of the Temple.  But this day would be different, this Day would change his life forever. Dearest Ones,  Jesus is Our Beautiful Gate.  Jesus is The Gate which is called Beautiful.  Let us look at John 10.

So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

Do you desire to have life abundantly?  Jesus is the Beautiful Gate into that life.  It is not a life of luxury, or a life of fame, fortune or ease.  But it is the Abundant Life, The Beautiful Life, the Contented Life.

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.  (Romans 12)

O Precious Ones, if you are discontented, come to Jesus.  His will is good, acceptable and perfect.  Do you wish to  end your “same old, same old?”  Come to Jesus, Come and see.  Come and believe.  If you are already a believer, come again, lay your whole life before Him…again.  If you have never known Jesus, take it from someone who has walked with Him for 42 years:  He is what you are looking for.  He is God, He is the Savior of the World.  But not just the world…the Savior of You, of me, of anyone who will put their trust in Him.  He is the Savior of our lives He is The Beautiful Gate you can walk through today.
