What would we do without God? To many of us, the answer is so obvious…we would remain broken, we would stay lost, we would have no hope. I took a walk with Bruce and Cody along the railroad tracks near our house. They run right beside a River. Cody had taken this walk before and loved it. He wanted Bruce and I to see how pretty it was. He led us down through some high grass and into a field of Ferns. From here we walked out to the River and the water was now low. But it was very obvious, from all the debris, that there had been some recent flash flooding. Colors began to jump out at me as I walked. We’ve all heard of Sea Glass, well this was River glass. Bits and pieces of broken, colored glass, pottery shards and mica, lots of shiny mica.I will now take what others consider debris or garbage, and spend the day making it into a Piece of Art. It is very therapeutic for me to do this, because my life has felt at times, like a lot of disconnected, sometimes broken or shattered pieces. Yet, I am watching God make something beautiful out of what I thought was a horrible experience, or a deficiency. I am watching God take what others would think are the failures of my life, the things I should be trying to hide; and making a Beautiful Piece of art with it. I will post the artwork that I make of this, later today, but my point is that God can, does, and is, making something Beautiful out of each one of our lives. That’s not just some silly little Christian Folk Song. It is a living, working breathing, life-giving, freeing, Reality that each one of us can walk in every single day.
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
I have come to see from this verse, that my job is to Love God and to trust His Purpose for my life. His job is to work all things together for good. He is always there, working His Wonderful God-Magic, so to speak. I call it magic, because it is so marvelous to watch what He does. God is not trickster, an illusionist, who just makes it seem like things are a certain way. He is Actually, tangibly, transforming our lives into wonderful works of Art for all the World see. Let us Marvel at His incredible power, love, grace and kindness toward us who Believe. So give God all of your broken pieces, your failures, hopes and dreams. His promises are everlasting. He never fails, never gives us, never falters in His Work. So Rest easy, O dear broken, lost, disappointed or Fearful, Child of God. I can’t wait to see the Beautiful Work of Art He makes of you.
