My Forever Friend, Jesus

There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.  (John 1)

Whirlwinds?  Been caught in one lately.  So much is swirling through my mind much of the time.  I sat back in a free moment yesterday, waiting in the car for some reason, laid my head on the seat and sighed.  Head words always seem to accompany sighs, those thoughts of just exactly why we are sighing.  I breathed a prayer to my Forever Friend, Jesus.

“Was it like this when you came here to earth the first time, Jesus?  Was the Season super crazy and busy?  I don’t like hustle and bustle, Lord.  I want to experience what the First Christmas was like.  That feeling of The First Noel and Silent Night.  Words of hope and holiness in a chaotic world, desperately trying to save itself.  When all the while, a Savior was silently being born, in an obscure manger, far away from the glare of lights and noise.  I want to experience that, Jesus!”

I sensed Jesus speaking to my heart.  “Actually, Carole, this is what it was like the First Christmas.  People were busy rushing to their hometowns for a census.  All the towns were packed.  I was born in a manger, Remember?  It was super busy, and there was no place for Me.  But all of this was on purpose, it was intentional that I should be born in an obscure place, in a humble abode.  Heralded by angels, announced by an astrological event, the brightest light in the sky ever seen for all time.  The signs were there, people just didn’t look up, they didn’t listen, they weren’t expecting Me.  Expect Me, Dear Child, on Christmas Eve, look for Me.  I will be found by you, when the hustle and bustle is past.”

My thoughts were interrupted once again by the opening of the car door.  My husband gets in and says, “Ready?”  And off we go to the next happening.  But Jesus had visited me in that car for those few moments, with a promise of expectation of meeting Him again on Christmas Eve Night.  While all the world is sleeping, I will be awake, expecting to See Jesus, to meet with Him alone, where I always go to meet Him.  Thank You Jesus for that first Christmas visitation, and all the thousands, No millions since that very special night.  You are here with me always, and I need only slow down, listen and look for My Precious Lord and Savior, My Forever Friend.

(John 1)
