6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. (Romans 6)
For one will hardly die for a righteous man; but for the good man someone would dare to die. What a concept. Is there anybody in your life that you would be willing to die for? I have some, my precious husband and my three children. But would I die for a bad person, a stranger, a criminal? Probably not. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus died for us before we acknowledged God’s right to rule over us as Creator. He died for us before we recognized our own sins. He died for us before we were sorry for how we treat others wrongly at times. He died for us before we knew our need for a Savior. And His death was a cruel and agonizing one, because that is what sin deserves. Jesus actually became sin for us. God, Pure and Holy, Right and Just, became flesh, dwelt among us, and then became sin for us on the Cross. The Precious Beauty of such love, the sacrifice that He made, laying aside His Rule and taking on the sins of mankind; it is beyond my scope of Reasoning. But God’s love is not reasonable, it is lavish, it is extravagant, it is priceless.
Yes, we may die for some of the good people in our lives, but God demonstrates His Own love toward us in that WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS, Christ died for us. Love Personified, Love in its perfect state. Thank You, Dearest Jesus. I am forever Grateful to You!
