16 This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ (Jeremiah 6:16 NASB)
I have had people ask me why I believe the Word of God so strongly. It is because it works, it’s that simple. I have seen disaster averted in my life, and in the lives of others, by following the Word of God. I have experienced what happens when I go my own way, follow my own thoughts and ideas, it usually does not turn out well. I have finally come to realize that God knows best, He truly does. My heart and soul, my mind itself, has finally found its resting place in trusting God. He is tried and true. His Word is tried and true. I love how the above verse says, “Stand at the crossroads and look.” Every single day we stand at crossroads, needing to make decisions about things. What to do, where to go, what to say. There are consequences for our actions, and even though God loves us, He will not rescue us from those consequences of our choices sometimes. But He does promise to work all things together for our good, and for His Glory, as we love Him and trust His purpose for our lives (Romans 8:28 NASB).
No life is so far off track, or so messed up, that God can’t redeem it all, transform it all. Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear. (Isaiah 59:1 NASB)
We have a God who is tried and true, let us turn to the only one who can help us out of the messes we get ourselves in to. The Lord says this to us in our distresses:
Therefore, the Lord longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.( Isaiah 30:18 NASB)
