Enlighten me, Jesus

9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.

Imagine you have given birth to a child, you have given this child life.  But the child rejects you almost as soon as he can speak and walk.  When you look at this little one, you feel nothing but love; yet this little one despises you.  As a good parent, you provide all your child needs, and pour love out on him in all you do.  But as the child grows and matures, he despises and spurns you even more, rejecting your reaching out to him at every turn. Eventually the child leaves, and never returns, never calls, never gets in touch.  Hard to imagine, right?
This is what happened to God.  The above passage tells us that Jesus was in the world, He created the world, yet the world did not know Him, did not recognize Him.  Jesus came to His own, to those whom He had given life, but they rejected Him, they did not receive Him.
I can’t even begin to imagine that kind of pain, that kind of rejection.   O Jesus, My creator, Redeemer and friend.  How I have neglected you lately, charmed by things that sparkle and shine.  But You are Brilliantly shining, gleaming as a rainbow in the Heavens. Always declaring Your love and faithfulness in the changing of the Seasons, and the glory of Nature. Faithful are Your Sunrises and Sunsets, even more so Your love.
Forgive my foolish pursuits of other things.  Meet with me this day, and often each day for the rest of my life. Enlighten me, Jesus, teach me who You are.
