I was listening to Scripture being read this morning on my favorite YouTube channel Soakstream. I don’t usually name drop ministries, but trust me, if you need Scripture read over you because you are having a particularly difficult time, this is the Channel for you. As I was listening, I heard this verse in a new way. Let me give it to you in context.
12 Therefore sin is not to reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13 and do not go on presenting the parts of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and your body’s parts as instruments of righteousness for God. 14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under the Law but under grace. (Romans 6:12-14)
O Praise God for sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. I forget that so often, that I am now under grace. And therefore I have all the benefits of God’s Grace within me now because of Jesus. I am not helpless against sin, as I was before Christ. I don’t have to try to defeat it on my own. I am not under the Law anymore, not trying to keep the Law in my own strength, yet continually failing. I have been purchased by Jesus, who fulfilled the Law for me, and died in my place.
I am in the middle of writing a Bible Study, and one of its greatest components is about how different life is for us now, as Children of God under Grace. Do we really reflect on what is ours now, as believers and followers of Jesus Christ? I will be sharing the truths that God has been revealing to me over many years of walking with Him. Truths that are clearly seen in His Word. We have so much authority and power within our grasp because of Jesus. What was it like to be under the Law? How is it different for us now, as we walk in this new reality, the Reality of being Children in this New Kingdom of God?
Looking again at the verses above we can see that the choice is now ours to make. We have the power to choose what will be master over us. We have power to choose what will have dominion over us. We must choose to present our bodies to God as instruments of His Righteousness, not as instruments of sin.
Do not go on presenting the parts of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and your body’s parts as instruments of righteousness for God. (Romans 6:13)
What are we giving ourselves to, sin or God? The choice is ours, because of Jesus, the choice is actually ours. In a culture that revels in free choice, we actually have it in Christ. So, Dear Believer, who has dominion over you? We are now under grace and not law. Rejoice in the choices you can now make, Dear Believer, rejoice and choose Grace.
More to come about this amazing Gospel in which we now stand. For today, revel in Your choices through the power of believing in Jesus Christ, rejoice and be glad. Have a Blessed Day.
Definitely a post I needed to read. It’s a charge from the Lord but if he’s asking us or telling us to do this, He knows we can with His help.
