Forget not all His Benefits, Day 7

By: Carole L. Haines
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits.
3 Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases;
4 Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
5 Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.
(Psalm 103:2-5)
Yesterday we compared our Spirit, Soul and Body to a boat on the water. The Water is our Spirit. The rudder of the boat is our soul, and the boat itself is our body. Our soul is defined for us in the Greek as our Psyche- The seat of our feelings, thinking, desires and aversions (heart, soul, etc.). God has called us out of one thing and into something else. God wants to transform our inclinations in the steering of our vessels. He desires our redemption and transformation more than we do. We are blind before Christ, blinded from being able to see just how much we need a Savior, need redemption and transformation.
13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:13-14)
We once dwelt in the domain of darkness, our spirits were not yet awakened. When we trusted Christ, we were spiritually brought to life, transferred from that domain of darkness into the Kingdom of His Beloved son. We were predestined to be conformed to the Image of Jesus. Our spirits are now awake and our souls long for transformation. We yearn to become like Jesus, and our soul is where that transformation takes place; in our minds, will, emotions and heart.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
(James 1:17 NKJV)
O, all that is within my spirit, all that is within my soul, all that is within my body, Bless His Holy Name.
Let me close today with a quote from one of my favorite Devotionals.
“When you get close to God, He gets close to you. He surrounds you on every side; there’ll be no twilight zones and no dim shadows. You’ll be surrounded by Light. Isn’t that where you want to live?”
