But He knows the way I take; When He has put me to the test, I will come out as gold. My foot has held on to His path; I have kept His way and not turned aside. I have not failed the command of His lips;
I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food. 13 But He is unique, and who can make Him turn? Whatever His soul desires, He does it.
14 For He carries out what is destined for me,
And many such destinies are with Him. (Job 23:10-14)
No one knows our journey with the Lord, as we walk with Him from the heart. No one can see inside of us and know the work that God is doing. He alone knows, and we sense that miraculous work of transformation as we walk with Him day by day. I was going through a time of dryness in my walk with Jesus, it is not something that I am used to. I prayed and asked for relief. I searched my soul for an answer to this perplexing question, “God, where are you?”
I would wake up every morning and go before Him and sit with Him in His Word, but my old sense of gratitude didn’t seem to be there. I cried out to Him for refreshing and renewal, then while preparing for Small Group last night, the flood gates of gratitude opened as I read His Word. This time of dryness made me realize just how much Jesus means to me. I think we take Him for granted sometimes and missing Him made me yearn and search for Him even more.
I love how it says above in Job:
“But He knows the way I take; When He has put me to the test, I will come out as gold. My foot has held on to His path; I have kept His way and not turned aside.”
Sometimes we go through dry times, but as we continue to be faithful and sit with Him in His Word, He renews us and reinvigorates our faith. Walking with Jesus is not a matter of “feeling great” all the time. He is our companion even in the valley of confusion. But praise God for His incredible Holy Spirit who brings to our remembrance all that Jesus has taught us even in the “dry times.” (John 14:26)
All praise to our merciful and good Father, who art in Heaven.
