I have a new Facebook friend who sends me “Words from the Lord,” sometimes. They are from another country in the world that is very poor, so these are precious treasures. This morning, I really needed what was sent, and I read it to my best friend who is going in for more treatments with breast cancer today. I wanted to share it with you here at HisShadowings.
“God is saying to You today. I know that You are going through a difficult time in Your life right now, and You’re dealing with things that are bringing You a lot of emotional pain. It seems as though before You get through one thing, another thing happens. I don’t always still the storm around You, sometimes I still the storm raging in You. Don’t give up. I am giving You strength in areas You can’t even see right now. I will hold Your hand and You will get through this. Everything will be alright. Trust Me…” (Author Unnamed)
As I prayed with my friend with cancer this morning, God gave me these verses and this picture in my head.
O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
You understand my thought from afar.
3 You scrutinize my path and my lying down,
And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
4 Even before there is a word on my tongue,
Behold, O Lord, You know it all.
5 You have enclosed me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is too high, I cannot attain to it. (Psalm 139:1-6)
The picture He gave me was of an injured bird being scooped up and cradled in His hands. We are that injured bird sometimes, we need Him to cradle us and enclose us behind and before, laying His Hand upon us. We need Him to carry us to safety, away from the enemies around us. I am at a place where I need cradling. There is so much going on in my life that is beyond any control of mine. I must practice the principle of quieting myself before the Lord, and fill myself with these truths:
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change
And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;
3 Though its waters roar and foam,
Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride…“Cease striving and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” 11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our stronghold. (Psalm 46:1-3, 10-11)
How about you? Do you need God to cradle you today? Sink deep into His loving presence, cease your wriggling, like an injured bird, and let Him cradle you close to Himself and heal you where you hurt. Pour out Your pain, your hurt, your failures, your past and fears. Sink deep into the Breast of God and learn to live with the rise and fall of His breathing. God Bless you all this day.
