10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven. 11 [For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.]
12 “What do you think? If any man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go and search for the one that is straying? 13 If it turns out that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray. 14 So it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish. (Matthew 18:10-14)
As I sat with Jesus, glancing over my last post entitled, “Voice of the Searcher,” I heard His gentle whisper, “What about Voice of the Finder?” Jesus isn’t just the one who searches for us; He is the one who finds us, the One who saves us, and the One who keeps us. He is the voice of The Searcher, The Voice of The Finder, The Voice of The Savior and the Voice of The Keeper. I need Him to be all of these in my life, all at the same time it seems.
Have you ever gotten on one of those playgrounds with a merry go round, and had your friends spin you on it faster and faster? Suddenly what started out as fun has become “a holding on for dear life” situation, as momentum threatens to send you flying off. My life is moving faster than I can keep up with and I feel like I am barely hanging on as we round each new curve. But I was reminded that as I am trying to hold on, Jesus is holding on to me, so I am safe. And honestly, that’s all I need to know. That no matter what, with Jesus I am safe. I love how Psalm 139:1-14 speaks to my feelings of lostness:
“O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
You understand my thought from afar.
3 You scrutinize my path and my lying down,
And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.
4 Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O Lord, You know it all.
5 You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it.
7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?
8 If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.
9 If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,
10 Even there Your hand will lead me,
And Your right hand will lay hold of me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me,
And the light around me will be night,”
12 Even the darkness is not dark to You,
And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You.
13 For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.
If I am found by Jesus, I am never lost. Listen for the Voice of the Searcher. Look for the face of Your Finder. His Name is Jesus.
