“This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it.”
(Psalm 118:24)
Each morning I say to myself, “This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it.” On some days this is not as easy to say. Days certainly don’t tend to go according to our plans. Yet I do it anyway, because I know Our God is Faithful and good. His Word tells us:
21 I recall this to my mind,
Therefore, I wait.
22 The Lord’s acts of mercy indeed do not end,
For His compassions do not fail.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I wait for Him.”
25 The Lord is good to those who await Him,
To the person who seeks Him.
26 It is good that he waits silently
For the salvation of the Lord.
(Lamentations 3:21-26)
Life can get so busy. We make our plans, and we fill in the details that we want to accomplish. Then we move on often forgetting who the sovereign One really is. It is God’s plans that will never fail. Ours often do, but I am learning that when plan A doesn’t work, we often go to plan B. And when that doesn’t work, we have a choice. We can trust that the Lord has plans or we can keep trying our own. God promises that His will is “good, well-pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:1-2) He knows each day that I need to experience Him as my shepherd, and that He has gone before me. His plans are really what is best, so I must simply trust and obey. He has prepared works for me to do before the foundation of the world. (Ephesians 2:10) I am learning to quietly yield my plans A & B, and quickly go to plan G=God’s plan. May the Lord bless and encourage you with that truth today. He is good and His plans are absolutely perfect. He works all things together for our good and His glory (Romans 8:28). We are called to love Him and trust His plans and purposes for our lives.
