He always goes before us 2 Very early on the first day of the week, they *came to the tomb when the sun had risen. 3 They were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” 4 Looking up, they *saw that the stone had been rolled away, [b]although it was extremely large. 5 Entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe; and they were amazed. 6 And he *said to them, “Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him. 7 But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see Him, just as He told you.’”
(Mark 16:2-6 NASB)
It’s been almost a month since i wrote for my blog. Holiday happenings, busy schedule, and an upcoming wedding celebration for our son have all kept me busy. But truth be told, I just haven’t been inspired lately. I have been going through a bit of a dry spell in my walk with the Lord. My exuberance has waned and I had to admit that I feel as if i have lost my first love. I sensed from the Lord that I needed to give up TV, even my comforting fireplace and music backgrounds for a time. This morning, I couldn’t even find the TV remote no matter where I looked and I chuckled to myself, “He has gone before me, to make sure I don’t get distracted from Him again.” ”
In the passage above from the Gospel of Mark, we read that the women were discussing how in the world they were ever going to move that stone in front of the tomb. But it didn’t keep them from moving forward, and when they arrived, the stone was already rolled away. All those spices they carried to anoint Jesus’ body were not needed, for Jesus was no longer in that tomb, but had risen and was alive forevermore. O the joys that we miss sometimes when we fret instead of trusting.
God always does “exceedingly abundantly above all we could ever ask, think or dare to imagine. (Eph. 3:20) He has gone before us and prepared something much more fruitful than what we have imagined for ourselves. We will have dry times, but as in a desert, our roots grow deeper in these times as we reach down and out for His Living Water.
May the Lord refresh you with this truth today. Wherever you are, whatever you are going through, He has gone before you. Rest in Him, trust Him believe Him. All will be well. Whatever it is that is worrying You, He is already there and He has made it right.
One of your best posts ever! Thank you for being open and honest because we all go through dry spells. Amen that He goes before us!
