Unexpected Words, Pt. 1

by: Peggy S. Councill

10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it
without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the Sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:10-11 NIV)
There are many ways that we can communicate with one another because communication is accomplished through various means. These include hearing, singing, sign language, reading, speaking, and many others. This is how we share our desires, thoughts, feelings, knowledge, etc. with one another.
God also uses these avenues to reveal Himself to us:
1) Who He is (Genesis 1:1)
2) Where He is (John 1:1)
3) What His desires, thoughts and plans are (Isaiah 55:11)
Have You ever felt that you were all alone? During a medical procedure. I had to monitor my breathing over a span of 3 hours. Just me alone in the room, breathing into a tube once every hour, nothing else, no one else there. Being totally isolated like this for so long was stressful for me because I’m used to conversation, not silence and isolation. This is when the words about Jesus, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you!” came to mean so much to me. In those moments, His presence became so real, the peace that passes understanding filled me. When Jesus speaks the living word, He communicates to us from the depths of His being.
So, dear believer, listen for Him, take Him at His Word, believe Him. He means what He says and He is with you always no matter what your circumstances may be. Rest in Him, Reflect on His presence, always trust His words.

  1. Such a blessing to see this picture of you praying, to read Your words which have pointed so many to the Lord throughout your life. He indeed holds the words of life. Thank you for encouraging us with your post.

Id have a very hard time sitting alone for three hours too.
