tired bee
by carole l.haines
buzzing inside my screen porch, trying to find a way out
busy bee had no problem getting into this situation,
just like slipping into a suit of clothes
but now he can’t find the door, or a window, or even a tear in the fabric
Busy bee in getting angry now, punching, sweating, diving at anything that moves
Angry bee is buzzing louder and louder but somehow no one hears his cries
He pitches himself over and over again, up against the screen trying to bring it down
but it won’t come down, it won’t budge, it won’t open, it won’t yield
angry bee is tired now, holding on to the screen for dear strength
holding on to the very thing that kept him captive for so long
tired bee can hold on no more, and gently tumbles to the ground
It is here that he finds his escape, at the bottom, on the ground, on his knees
He crawls away, under the screen, almost too tired to be aware that he now is free
Busy bee, angry bee, tired bee
HOW CHARMING!!!! WOULD LOVE TO SEE A CHILDREN’S BOOK WITH ILLUSTRATIONS OF THIS STORY!!!!!
