A Poem by carole l. haines
Jesus, you are not merely a means to an end, You are the end, the destination
and You are not just the way to go, You alone are the very road
Not only are You, Lord the road I travel, You are the place I am yearning for
and so I’m being still and knowing God
a knowledge that goes far deeper than I can understand
so as I begin the breathe the fragrance of who You really are
I find contentment in being lost in You and never found again
Jesus, forgive me for wanting the love, at times, more than You, the Lover
and forgive me for the times went I want the gifts, more than loving the Giver
Forgive me wanting to be something more than the joy and peace of being simply yours
and so I’m being still and knowing God
a knowledge that goes far deeper than I can understand
so as I begin the breathe the fragrance of who You really are
I find contentment in being lost in You and never found again
I’m counting all things lost and simply knowing You
and what I’ve left behind will ever prove
that reaching higher for You, Christ, to touch your heart
is the only way I’ll have know my part
and so I’m being still and knowing God
a knowledge that goes far deeper than I can understand
so as I begin the breathe the fragrance of who You really are
I find contentment in being lost in You and never found again
LORD, I NO LONGER DESIRE TO LEAVE MY MARK UPON THE WORLD
THE ONLY MARK I WANT TO LEAVE NOW, IS YOURS
amen and amen
Carole,
I have found what you said about the Psalms: It’s like having someone sing you to sleep, which is exactly what God is said to do ( see Zephaniah 3:17)- to be true in my life. For the past decade, I have been memorizing and meditating on the Psalms- they have become the song I hear upon waking and the words of comfort & wisdom I cherish throughout all the busyness of life.
