Children of Promise

Psalm 115: 11-15

11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord;
He is their help and their shield.
12 The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us;
He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.
13 He will bless those who fear the Lord,
The small together with the great.
14 May the Lord give you increase,
You and your children.
15 May you be blessed of the Lord,
Maker of heaven and earth.

I have often wondered whether the promises of the Old Testament were somethings that we as “New Testament”  believers could come before God and pray for.   I asked God to help me understand.  Were we children of Promise, even as the Israelites were?  He lead me to the Book of Romans and the things that are said about Abraham in Chapter 4 and Chapter 9.  I was convinced that I could go before God and pray these Scriptures and trust the Lord to pour out the blessings of these promises on me and mine.  The people who looked to God before Christ were waiting for Him to come and fulfill the promise of Salvation to His people.  Those of us who look to Christ now, are trusting in what He has already done on the Cross for us.  We are bound by time, looking forward to the Promise, or looking back.  But God is not bound by time>  Christ is not bound by time.  The Spirit is not bound by time.  And God has shown me through His precious Word, that the promises are not bound by time either.  Whoever believes in Christ now has  inheritance of  Promise in Christ, who is the One that Abraham was looking toward in the future and we look toward now.

Romans 9:25-26

“I will call those who were not My people, ‘My people,’
And her who was not beloved, ‘beloved.’”
26 “And it shall be that in the place where it was said to them, ‘you are not My people,’
There they shall be called sons of the living God.”

What a marvelous mystery revealed.  What a Precious Heart our God has.  His Word says that He waits on High to have compassion on us, that He desires none to perish but all to come to eternal life.

If you have never trusted in the Promises of God, fulfilled in and through the Person of Jesus Christ, trust Him today.  As Him to make you a Child of Promise.  If you have a Bible, start reading the Gospel of John.  If you do not have a Bible, please get one.  I have come to know and have believed that Jesus is who He claimed to be.  I have been walking with Him for 40 years and He has tread the water for me, walked through fire with me.  He has carried me when I thought I couldn’t go on, helped me when my strength was gone.  He is God, even as He claimed to me, the Word made flesh that came down to dwell among us.  He is the Promised Messiah, the One and Only, full of Grace and Truth.  Came and See, Come and know Him fully.
