On my home, I take the back ways. It takes a bit longer, but the scenery just can’t be beat, especially at this Autumn time of year. One of the roads that I pass is called Good Memory Lane. It made me think of how many times, God’s Word encourages us to Remember, Remember, Remember. We are told in Genesis 9:16
Psalm 25:5-7
5 “Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.
6 Remember, O Lord, Your compassion and Your lovingkindnesses, For they have been from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions; According to Your lovingkindness Remember me, For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.”
Psalm 119:49 “Remember the word to Your servant, In which You have made me hope.”
So many difficult and dark days have passed in all of our lives. We cry out to God for healing of the wounds inflicted during those difficult times. But O, the joy of Remembering His faithfulness, His kindness, His love and mercy. As we travel through life, I pray for us all, that we will spend more time traveling down “Good Memory Lane,” than we spend in the Valley of Shadow. God is with us in both places, He travels with us down both roads. But may He enable us to dwell on the reality of who He is, no matter what is going on at the moment, or which road we are traveling upon at the time. Thank You, Lord, that You go with us, down our Memory Lanes. I pray You would heal us when we are wounded, free us when we are captive, sing over us when we are at peace. Thank You, Dearest Lord, for traveling with us down every road, in every kind of weather, 24/7 365.
