Psalm 145
A Psalm of Praise, of David.
145 I will extol You, my God, O King, And I will bless Your name forever and ever.
(forgive me, Lord, when I forget to praise You)
2 Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever.
(Your Word is as great as Your Name, I can trust You)
3 Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised, And His greatness is unsearchable.
( O, the joy of seeking You out and knowing You)
4 One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts.
(Give me many opportunities to tell of You, and Your kindness to me to the next generation)
5 On the glorious splendor of Your majesty And on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.
(teach me to sit quietly before You, and learn of You and your ways)
6 Men shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts, And I will tell of Your greatness.
(Two ears, Lord, and one mouth. Help me t pause and remember to listen to others twice as much as I speak)
7 They shall eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness And will shout joyfully of Your righteousness.
(O, the joy of hearing how You are working in the lives of my brothers and sisters in Christ.)
8 The Lord is gracious and merciful; Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.
(Mercy, grace and kindness are the nature of Your language, Lord, and we blossom in Your beautiful soil of truth)
9 The Lord is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works.
(Thank You, Precious Lord, that we need not fear that You have favorites among us. You are truly good to all.)
10 All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord, And Your godly ones shall bless You.
(I am in awe at the thought that I could ever bless You, Lord, and yet here it is saying that I can. Teach me how)
11 They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom And talk of Your power;
12 To make known to the sons of men Your mighty acts And the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
( To be a part of Your Marvelous Kingdom is such a precious privilege. Thank You, Jesus, for opening the way)
14 The Lord sustains all who fall And raises up all who are bowed down.
(Lord, You declare in Your Word that you desire none to perish but for all to come to eternal life, Make us lampstands in Your Kingdom, always and ever pointing to Jesus as the way out of this darkness and into His Marvelous Light.)
15 The eyes of all look to You, And You give them their food in due time.
16 You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing.
(King Jesus, sometimes I am afraid of want and need. Forgive me when I am ungenerous and hoard things for myself. Help me to learn the lesson of the Manna and Quail in the Wilderness.)
17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways And kind in all His deeds.
(You cam to Your own, yet Your own did not recognize You, we did not receive the Glorious Son of God. We did not know You, but help us to se You now, as You are. You are kind in all Your deeds, and glorious in all Your ways.)
18 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.
(You have said in Your Word, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set You free. Guide us, Jesus, Father, Spirit, to call upon You in truth, to seek you with pure hearts. We come to You, conflicted, broken, worn-out from the world. Restore us, we pray)
19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and will save them.
(Someone once said, “The hardest part of prayer is getting neutral on an issue.” Lord, make Your desires, our desires)
20 The Lord keeps all who love Him, But all the wicked He will destroy.
(Lord, You are He who Keeps me, teach me to Love You with all my heart, soul, mind and strength.)
21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, And all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever.
(Teach us to open our mouths in praise, to open our hearts in love, to open our hands in generosity, so the world may se You in us)
Amen and Amen
