That One view

Psalm 140:8

8 For my eyes are toward You, O God, the Lord;

In You I take refuge; do not leave me defenseless.

That one view

That One view of things, that special view

outside our favorite window, or driving along our favorite road

We know it’s coming, and wait with anticipation, as we round the corner

and Aaahhh, there it is, those trees, that mountain, those fields

and our heart leaps inside of us, as if seeing it for the first time.

Perhaps for others, it’s the ocean waves

beckoning us to come out of hibernation, after the long winter’s chill

We drive the straightest course to get there,

We hasten to the water’s edge, for soon the land shall cease

and you will stand before the vast beauty, feet firmly planted on the beach

Or how about the glory of fresh fallen snow,

everything white, everything pure and clean, nothing but white, everywhere

and the fragrance of frozen air permeates all it touches

fresh air, clean, white and pure beauty, as far as the eye can see

We bundle up warm, just to venture out into it’s glory

wishing that snow had waves, to wash away our footprints behind us

but none of these beauties, none of these scenes, can even begin to compare

to fixing our eyes upon Jesus, the One and Only Son of God

To gaze upon Him is to touch love, to handle grace in our hands

No One who looks upon Him, truly seeing who He is,

the Word made flesh is ever the same again,

to look with wonder into the face of God, the heart of our Lord

Now that is the One view; that One view, I yearn for

that is the One view; that One view, I live for

Psalm 140:8

8 For my eyes are toward You, O God, the Lord;

In You I take refuge; do not leave me defenseless.
