2 Chronicles 20:12 O our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”   13 All Judah was standing before the Lord, with their infants, their wives and their children.

I just love King Jehoshaphat.  He was certainly not perfect but he is one of my favorite Bible characters.  And the above highlighted verse is a big reason why.
Though he was King of Judah and had tremendous wealth and power, Jehoshaphat knew his place.  He knew that all he had and all he was able to do came from the Lord.  He knew who His God was, and He knew that He could cry out to Him in a time of great distress and trust Him to come and rescue him.  Jehoshaphat knew God, the character of God, the Power of God, and the Love of God.

God reveals Himself to us as we seek Him earnestly.  Since I started working, I find that the 3 days I am at work are so busy that God gets crowded out, and I only have time for small doses of time with Him.  By the end of those three days, I am soooooooooo thirsty for God, that I can’t wait to get up and go to His Word and sit and listen for an extended period of time.  Perhaps you can relate to this.  I have learned, as Jehoshaphat did, that I am powerless before these great tasks that I must do, I am weary in the midst of the daily battle. But I find, also, that I can run to My God and He is here, He is always here with me. He is watching over me in the days where I can only take sips of His presence, and in the days where I can bask in His presence.  He is so, ever and forever faithful to His promises never to leave us of forsake us.  Jehoshaphat knew his God, and he knew himself.  He knew He needed God’s constant help and companionship.  He was a King of Prayer and wanted to know what God wanted him to do in each situation he found himself in as King of Judah.

Precious Holy King Jesus, make us like this precious King and warrior who sought you and found you ever faithful.  Give each of us divine sips of Your presence and also days to bask in the joy of being with you. Teach us to know You more and more each day.   We love You more than life itself.  In Jesus’ Holy Name.  Amen
