I had a visitor to my home yesterday. She brought her very young granddaughter. My son, Cody was home at the time, and this young child wanted to meet him. When Cody came out, the child was shy toward this new person. Cody immediately crouched down to her level and greeted her face to face, to ease her worries. Now, I was amazed that my son knew to do this. He is only 20, and most young people I’ve observed that age, do not relate to young children like that. It reminded me of God’s incredible gentleness with us.
Prayer for Mercy and Help
64 Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down,
That the mountains might quake at Your presence—
2 As fire kindles the brushwood, as fire causes water to boil—
To make Your name known to Your adversaries,
That the nations may tremble at Your presence!
3 When You did awesome things which we did not expect,
You came down, the mountains quaked at Your presence.
The Word Made Flesh
John 1:14 “ And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
He laid aside His right to stay in heaven, He did not grasp it as His own, but laid it aside for a time, and came down to dwell among these people he created, these beloved of God…Us.
Philippians 2:5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
O, Jesus, Precious Lover of our souls, Make us more like You. Help us to crouch down and meet people where they are, weeping on the floor at times. The broken, the weary, the lost and forlorn. Make us like You, Jesus. You have down this for us, guide us to do this for one another. Guide us to love others into the Kingdom of God, just as You have done for us. Jesus, make us more like you…face to face people, heart to heart people. In Your name we pray…Amen
