If the Lord had not been my help

by: carole l. haines

My soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence.
18 If I should say, “My foot has slipped,”
Your lovingkindness, O Lord, will hold me up.
19 When my anxious thoughts multiply within me,
Your consolations delight my soul. (Psalm 94:17-19)

After the night, morning always comes

After the rain, the sun appears, the land dries out

after the wound, a chance for healing, a time for being made whole

Our Nights can be long and lonely

losses, grief, unanswered prayer, wandering children

difficult tasks, fears abound in uncertain times

But then we look back and Remember

We remember the faithfulness of God,

how He has brought us through again and again

How He made a way where there seemed to be no way

How He gave us back what we thought we had lost,

How He healed wounds that seemed to reach down into our bones

O Beautiful God, how can we ever thank You enough for Your kind ways

May our lips praise You and our hearts raise you high

Jesus, You said, “If I, If I be lifted up

I will draw all men unto me.

Be lifted up in us Dearest King

and may many come to know You through our testimonies

Amen and Amen
