A tranquil heart

Proverbs 14:30 A tranquil heart is life to the body,
But passion is rottenness to the bones.

silhouette31[1]So where does this tranquility come from, this inner calm that is spoken of here?  I have found it only in the still quiet of time alone with God in His Word.  God generally always wakes me up way earlier than most would choose, but there is an unrushed joy in meeting with Him in the morning this way.  Some people stay up late at night and meet with Him then.  For me, He wakes me up.

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ”

I used to wake up every single morning sick to my stomach from fear and worry. I dreamed of bad things happening too.  I had been struggling with this my whole young life, but didn’t know what it was.  I was diagnosed with Anxiety disorder.  It was then, in my late 20’s, that I began a journey from fear to freedom, and all of it was accomplished by retraining my mind to think God’s thoughts about my life with His Word.

Romans 12: 1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

I made the decision to stop trusting what I thought was true or right, and begin believing what God says is true.  It has been a harrowing journey at times, but God is so very good to us.  He truly is strong in our weaknesses, and He truly does deliver us from our strongholds.  His grace is sufficient and His power is manifested in my weakness.   So bring those weaknesses of yours to God, and give them to Him.  Meet with Him in His Word and let Him show you how to replace your weakness, with the strength of His truth.   Your life will be transformed and you will develop that Beautiful tranquil heart you have been longing for.
