Okay, so this post is not going to be an easy one. But like I always point out to people, the Word of God is said to be useful for 4 things, according to 2 Timothy 3:16&17 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. Do you see the 4 things? Teaching, Reproof, correction and training in Righteousness. So I guess this post will be more like the reproof or training in righteousness.
God is so good and loves us so much, that He wants us to be transformed from darkness to light, and from wrong ways of living and thinking, to His good ways. So now let’s talk about one of His most repeated phrases in the New Testament…Love One Another. In India, there was such a sense of purpose, and that purpose created a Unity among us that was so tangible, you almost felt you could reach out and take hold of it. But we are back in the States now, and I’ve already noticed how prevalent the seeming lack of Unity is in the Body of Christ sometimes. It hurts and pains me to witness this, so I know God must be grieved.
Matthew 7
1 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2 “For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? 5 “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”
Beautiful and Beloved Body of Christ, let us take heed to this difficult but precious passage of Scripture. I have heard judgments, complaining, rumors and bitterness in the tones of some I have been around now that I am back home. I myself, have been tempted to do the same. It’s so hard not to be swept up into this kind of talk when you are around it. But we must resist and do all we can, to seek and keep the Unity of the Brethren. We must not be ignorant of our enemy’s schemes. He desires to divide and conquer us. But let us work all the harder to seek and keep our unity.
Where there is judgment in your heart, choose mercy and grace. Where there is jealousy or envy or another’s position or authority, choose submission and yielding. I think this happens at times because we forget our purpose here on earth. Let us keep the Cause of Christ continually before us and in us. I believe we saw such a great and mighty work of God in India, partly because of the Unity and lack of grumbling and complaining. There were many factors involved, but the Strong Unity was definitely one of them. So,Let us choose Unity as our Flag and follow the Precious instructions found in Philippians 2.
Be Like Christ
Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, 2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. 3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
