I have been waking up pretty severely depressed lately.  I know the outcome if I linger in bed, worry will take over, fear will fill my mind.  So I get up,  and run to the one place I have always found comfort and encouragement,  The Word of God.  I prayed this morning as I headed for me old familiar chair and sat down here to open up The Word.  I prayed, “Father, please speak to me this morning.  I feel so lost and alone.  I feel empty and discouraged.  I’m weary, Lord, tired of the struggle.  Please talk to me, Lord, please encourage my heart.  I really need a Word from you right now.  so I sat down, opened up my e-mail and went directly to The Verse of the Day at Bible Gateway.  God spoke to me here immediately and He said,

But you, Israel, My servant,
Jacob whom I have chosen,
Descendant of Abraham My friend,
You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth,
And called from its remotest parts
And said to you, ‘You are My servant,
I have chosen you and not rejected you.
10 ‘Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
11 “Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored;
Those who contend with you will be as nothing and will perish.
12 “You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them,
Those who war with you will be as nothing and non-existent.
13 “For I am the Lord your God, who upholds your right hand,
Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’   (Isaiah 41)

I have developed the habit of praying the Scriptures over myself and others.  I believe that, according to Romans 4, we are Descendants of Abraham by faith, and so all the promises to him, are ours in Christ Jesus.  Therefore, I insert my name, or the name of whoever I am praying for into the Scriptures as I pray them.  Here is my prayer, based on Isaiah 41, for myself today.

But you, Carole, My servant,
Carole whom I have chosen,
Descendant of Abraham My friend,
You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth,
And called from its remotest parts
And said to you, ‘You are My servant,
I have chosen you and not rejected you.
10 ‘Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
11 “Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored;

I believe God is speaking to us everyday from His precious Word.  I needed to hear this Encouragement from Him so desperately.  I have lost  heart in this Battle called life.  I am just so weary.  Yet, I feel He has uplifted me today, directly spoken to me and encouraged me this day.  He will speak to You too.  Run to Him, Run to His Word.  Sit at His feet and pour out your heart before Him.  And then listen in silence, as He speaks to You from His Living Word. May you be Blessed by Him today, as I have been.
