“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5: 14, 16)
God spoke to me from these verses many years ago. I was struck by how it said, “Let your light shine IN SUCH A WAY, that they may see your good works and GLORIFY YOUR FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN.
I was struggling, at the time, with desiring to be significant, to matter, to find my place in the Kingdom of God, to know His will for me and do it. I overstepped my bounds in an area, because of misplaced zeal. God knew my heart and brought correction to me on the issue. He always corrects us with an embrace at the same time. God showed me these verses and revealed to me, that my heart attitude needed to be changed. I was trying to find my significance in what I was doing, instead of just who I was in Christ. As I’ve grown out of my old way of thinking and into His new way of thinking, I am free to Let my Light shine in such a way, that people can see my good works an give all the attention and glory to God, and not to me. It’s been a long journey, but a good one. And I am still being molded, changed and grown up into all things in CHrist Jesus. But God’s correction is always with an embrace of Love, as He leads us always forth in Triumph in Christ Jesus. All Glory to our Wondrous and Precious God. Be that Light of the World. Be that City on a Hill. Ask God to show you how to let your light shine, IN SUCH A WAY, that people see your good works, yet all the Glory goes to God. Shalom!!!
