O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us The work that You did in their days, in the days of old. 2 You with Your own hand drove out the nations; Then You planted them; You afflicted the peoples, then You spread them abroad. 3 For by their own sword they did not possess the land, and their own arm did not save them, But Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your presence, for You favored them.
You are my King, O God; command victories for Jacob (insert your own name). 5 Through You we will push back our adversaries; Through Your name we will trample down those who rise up against us. 6 For I will not trust in my bow, nor will my sword save me. 7 But You have saved us from our adversaries, and You have put to shame those who hate us. 8 In God we have boasted all day long, and we will give thanks to Your name forever. Selah.
Former Deliverances and Present troubles. I was fascinated by the sub-title given to this Psalm. This could truly define each and every life ever lived upon the earth. But of the follower of God, it is especially telling. Jesus is our Faithful and treasured Savior. The Holy Spirit is the Overseer of our lives, and is constantly engaged in growing us up and onward. I look back at so many times in my life where I was dazed by circumstances, and remember in wonder, the faithfulness of God the Father in my life.
Today, I just wanted to take the time to thank Him for all those many times of Deliverance, and to actively pray and trust Him for the things that are going on right now in my life and in the lives of those I love. Perhaps You will join me in this prayer time and time of Thanksgiving to the God who has delivered you countless times in the past and is actively engaged in the troubles you face right now.
Let us sit before Him for this time and enjoy the Wonder of who God is. Let us thank Him for all He has done and promises to do in, for, and through each of us who trust Him as Savior and Lord. God Bless your day as You focus on Him.
