From Bud, to bloom, to blossom
A Poem By: Carole L. Haines
The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree, He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Planted in the house of the Lord, They will flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They will still yield fruit in old age; They shall be full of sap and very green. (Ps 92)
I watched a flower open, and I watched to see her grow
From bud, to bloom to blossom, each petal moved so slow
Until her beauty was unfolded and her fragrance filled my place
I didn’t see her struggle, she didn’t seem to push Or pull,
or strain, nor sweat or faint. It seemed quite effortless As if coming from within,
as a natural overflow to what was hiding, deep inside her
More beauty, more love than could ever be contained
So her treasure did embark upon the outward journey into a brand new world
Where she knew nothing and no one who would help her on her way
Her power seemed to come from a Precious Hidden Force
As the wind blows where it wishes, and you cannot hear its voice
So Our Beloved Creator has called this flower forth
And given her a yearning to bloom, and grow, and be
Right there, where once she was hidden in a realm mysterious and deep
Where the Hand of God is always forming and the Spirit is whispering
My Precious little flower lasted but a single day
In the evening she had faded, and in the morning gone away
But the Lessons that she taught me of Beauty, Time and Place
Will forever be remembered, and she lives on this way.
