Man to Man

In relationships with others, there can really be a cause for misunderstandings.  If not attended to quickly and thoroughly, this can lead to further misunderstanding, and eventually, a break-down in that relationship.  This is especially true in close relationships, such as family.  I have come to realize that even as the Bible says: “⁵ For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Tim. 2); there is really only one mediator regarding man to man issues as well, Jesus Christ Himself.  I have certainly found that if I rely solely on my own perspective on an issue, I can get it wrong almost every time.  I may be right on some point, but wrong on others.  We all have tunnel vision, when it comes to how we view things.  Here is a perfect picture of what Tunnel Vision does to our ability to understand what is really going on.

The picture is always much bigger, broader, and more complicated than we ourselves can see.  But God, He sees the end from the beginning.  I have learned that I must go to God and ask Him to reveal to me what is going on in any given situation.  I recently had a misunderstanding with someone I care about.  They were so thrown off by what I said, that they asked not to see me for a while.  I tried to explain what I meant, but they chose to see through their own filter, and I was wrongly seeing only through mine.  When we do that, we will misunderstand one another. We need God’s Perfect and Complete perspective. We need to ask God to reveal to us what is going on in each of our hearts.  He answered my prayer within days, and my friend called me back, without any further contact from me.  She said God told her to call me and talk. We are going to get together and talk this out.  I will share what God showed me about me, and she will share what God showed her about herself.  In the end, we will have the bigger picture, and hopefully a better understanding of one another.  I love the Context in which the above quoted Scripture is found.

First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, ² for kings and all who are in authority… so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. ³  This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.  ⁴ who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  ⁵ For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, ⁶ who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.  (1 Timothy 2) I just love how sequential the Word of God can be.  Here, we see the True Pattern for Relationship. *Pray for all men, especially those in Authority *The desired outcome is a tranquil and quiet life, so much of the stress in life can be relationship oriented, rather that situation oriented. * God desires all of us to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth, and I don’t believe this is just in reference to the Gospel, but also in our relationships with one another. Let us be quick to pray whenever we have a misunderstanding, give up our Tunnel Vision, come humbly before God and get His perspective on ourselves, and the other person involved.  God is truly the only one who has the whole picture of what is going on.  He reveals truth to us in our innermost being, so that we can have Unity and Joy, both in ourselves and with one another.  Let us come to God and trust Him to lead us in the way that we should go.
