Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me your right hand will hold me fast. (Psalm 139: 7-10)
Knowing the Lord is our keeper
We talk to Him in our minds
There’s still some anxiety welling up
As into the skies we climb
But take off is part of the process
Wheels up and into the air
The whole time we try to imagine
The hand of God carrying us there
The flight itself can hold promise
Because we all need a timely word
And the Lord is in the habit
Of placing the right people onboard
Time to rest, catch up with each other
An excellent chance to read
The time in between destinations
Can provide the stillness we need
There’s also a view from the heavens
Making mountains and rivers look small
We see the majesty of His hands;
His power reigns above all
Finally approaching the airport
It’s reassuring knowing we’ll land
Wheels down then retrieving our luggage;
Texting we’re safe in Midland.
