This is the first time in a month that I have written for my blog HisShadowings. First I had COVID and then some other illness. But I am coming out of what I would call Spiritual Brain Fog. Brain fog is defined as “problems with focus, memory, logic, and problem solving.”
I was doing a study on Psalm 103 when all this knocked me off my feet, and I will tell you, the truth and nuances of this Psalm have never been more needed in my life than now. I had lost my way in this Fog of illness, my footing felt unsteady. But all praise to the God who never lets go of us even when we feel like we are losing our grip.
Bless the Lord, my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
2 Bless the Lord, my soul,
And do not forget any of His benefits.
3 Who pardons all your guilt,
Who heals all your diseases.
4 Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with favor and compassion.
5 Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.
(Psalm 103: 1-5)
I had been forgetting the incredible benefits of belonging to Christ, belonging to God, being filled with His encouraging Joy. I spent some time crying out to Him from this pit and He answered me swiftly. Like the Good Father that He is, He came running to my aid as soon as I cried out to Him. Bringing His Good words to my remembrance. I had never thought of remembering as a form of worship, but it most certainly is. I stand in awe of this Good and Gracious, Kind and Loving Father I now belong to in Jesus. I am forever grateful for His constant care.
Thank You, Jesus. Thank you, Father. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for the joyful worship of remembering, the cleansing and restorative power of forgetting None of Your Benefits. Amen
Carole I absolutely love this post! I could relate because following COVID I felt like my brain was in a fog for months. It was so refreshing to see how God lifted you up…I felt the same. What would we do without Him?
