The Kaleidoscope

By: Peg Councill

After a phone call from my daughter about unexpected situations, we prayed together. After we got off the phone, the first thought that came to my mind was

“This is the Day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.
(Psalm 118:24)

When I knelt to pray, an image came into my mind of the Kaleidoscope that I passed down to this daughter on Christmas Day. The way a kaleidoscope works is the bottom is filled with pebbles, gems, various items that don’t look like much of anything from the outside. But as you lift it to the light and peek inside, the magnificent patterns emerge. And as you spin it, the patterns are continually changing, not one is exactly the same, like a snowflake. And you never know what’s coming, you never know what you are going to see when you look inside.

This is how our lives are. Bits and pieces of seemingly small things that make no sense to us from the outside. But God is working on the inside, and His creative wonders will emerge in His perfect time. Rest in Him, Dear believer, trust His care and sovereign leading. His ways are beyond our understanding but:
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
Happy New Year 2023
