Mind-blowing Truth

One of the most incredible realizations i have ever encountered came many years ago when I was reading the Book of Ephesians in the Bible.

Ephesians 1:4-5

“Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us to be holy and blameless in His eyes.  God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ.  This is what He wanted to do and it gave Him great pleasure.”

What was so mind blowing for me as I thought on this scripture, and really all of Chapter 1 in Ephesians, is that God decided this even before the world was created.  That means even before we were created, by Jesus Himself (see Colossians 1), God had already set aside His own Son, Jesus, and the whole plan of salvation.  That means that when Jesus was forming Adam out of clay, and when He reached inside and pulled out a rib to form Eve, He knew we would rebel.  He knew the whole human race would fall into darkness and separation from God.  Jesus knew that we would never be able to live up to God’s perfect standard in order to save ourselves.  Christ knew all this and chose to create us anyway, so great was His love for us.

I \t reminds me of the brave women who have been told that if they carry their baby to term in the womb, it will kill them.  Out of love for their unborn child, they disregard their own lives and lay down their lives to carry that child.  Jesus laid down His life to carry us into the salvation that only He could give.  Take the time to read all of Ephesians chapter 1 today and bask in the mind-blowing marvel of God’s incredible love.
