God gave me a picture of a bridge, a first-person view. I stared at it wondering what to do. The Bridge stretched out before me and it was impossible to see where it led because it was shrouded in mist. But I knew I was supposed to move forward into the mist, across that Bridge. Not knowing where the bridge leads, how long it is, or what lies on the other side: I took the first step onto that bridge. The Mist is disorienting, and I must grasp the side of the bridge as I walk to keep my bearings. But a great sense of peace has come over me in these first few steps. This hope is anchored in the fact that I know God is in the Mist. God has gone before me into the obscurity, the uncertainty that I feel. God has made the path already and I just need to hold onto His hand, as He holds me in His. Below is Bible Gateway’s Verse of the day and I was blessed by just how perfectly it fit what God was already showing me this morning.
“Thus says the Lord, who makes a way through the sea and a path through the mighty waters… “Do not call to mind the former things,
Or ponder things of the past. “Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.”
(Isaiah 43:16, 18-19)
So I have taken the first few steps and will continue to follow God into this mist, across this bridge, only knowing that He has gone before me and made the path straight.
Perhaps The New Year is stretched out before you as a Bridge into the mist. God has gone before you, Dear Believer. He has made a way forward and will lead you in His perfect plan. Take hold of His hand, follow Him into the mist and know that He will make all things clear in His good time.
I am HOLDING ON! This time last year I made the comment “Well, at least this will be a better year. Happy New Year “. I have chosen this year to say Blessed New Year. He is holding my hand and won’t let go.
